coffee, rocks, and crayons

Today, the girls and I went and met our friend Kathy for some coffee (and hot chocolate for Goldilocks).  It was fun to catch up on what our families had been doing.  We used to go to church together, and taught a 3 yr old class together for several years. Now we live 45 min apart and go to different churches which makes it a little harder to see each other.  I forgot to take a picture so I'm stealing one from a friend's facebook page.  Pretend we sitting on the patio of the coffee shop, and the girls are coloring, eating snacks, and playing with rocks.

Kathy is a dental hygienist, so Goldilocks decided to talk teeth with her for a minute.  Here's the general gist of the conversation...
Goldilocks:  I haven't lost any teeth yet
Kathy: yes, but you will one day
Goldilocks: Its taking TOO LONG! (using hands to emphasize, then sighs)
This hot chocolate is really good.

Puppetry

Wednesday night, after church, Goldilocks showed me the puppet she had made. One side was happy, the other was sad.

Goldilocks: This is you momma! (shows me the happy face)

Me: oh! that's nice Goldilocks
Goldilocks: (turns it over) and this is Curly Bear, she's very sad.

Me: poor Curly Bear, why is she so sad?
Goldilocks: She's sad because she wants to play outside, and you're happy because you are playing outside.
Me: hmmmm (wondering why I'm playing outside without kids, ha!)

Eventually, she told me there was a sad man and Jesus helped him be happy.

Today at lunch

Goldilocks and I were discussing everyone's first, middle, and last names in our family. She kept getting confused and finally confused me.

G: does Curly Bears have any gracebucks?
Me: what are gracebucks?

(repeat the above conversation about 4 times, with several variations of tone, inflection, and hand movements.)

Me: I don't understand what you are asking, I'm so confused.
G: Momma, we'll talk about this later.

pause

G:is it later yet?
Me: (hand smacking forehead)

She finally did it,

Goldilocks put something up her nose.
I couldn't believe it when Grandma said "She's put something in her nose"
Goldilocks told us it was an eye (wiggly craft eye)

After peering up her nose with a flashlight, I decided I could get it with tweezers, except, we didn't have any tweezers.

Papaw went and got some at the drugstore, then held the flashlight while I went after it.

Goldilocks had sneezed several times after I looked up her nose, which helped move the "eye" further out.

Goldilocks lay very very still and I was able to get it out after a couple of tries, and even got a huge hug afterwards.

Now she knows not to put anything in her nose or ear EVER!

On Monday, when the weather was great, Goldilocks played outside with her Grandma, while Papaw was working on Papa Bear's truck. He was working hard under the truck and the conversation went something like this
Goldilocks: Papaw, are you being careful?
Papaw: yes, I'm being careful (thinks its sweet she is concerned about him)
Goldilocks: no, papaw, are you being careful?
Papaw: yes, I'm being very careful
Goldilocks: be careful papaw, there's a worm right next to you.

Poor papaw, the little worm-lover wasn't concerned about him at all :)

Visit with Santa

Right before Christmas, we went to the bookstore because we heard Santa was going to be there. Usually wee D refuses to see him, but all nervousness went away when he offered her a candy cane. Lil' Abner didn't care and I couldn't believe I got a couple of good pictures so easily. After the pictures were over, Santa asked a few questions.

Santa: What do you want for Christmas?
D: Didn't you get my letter?
Santa: If you sent it, we got it and put your list into the computer. How old are you?
D: I'm STILL 3 (insert big sigh)
Mom: but tomorrow you will be...
D: 4, FINALLY! (throws hands up in the air)
